Θερινό Σχολείο ARIADNE 2016: Digital curation of archaeological knowledge

Η ΜΟΨΕ σε συνεργασία με το Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών και το Πανεπιστήμιο του Τορόντο διοργανώνει Θερινό Σχολείο στο πλαίσιο της αρχαιολογικής ερευνητικής υποδομής ARIADNE με θέμα Ψηφιακή επιμέλεια της αρχαιολογικής γνώσης – νέες προσεγγίσεις ψηφιακής έρευνας, διαχείρισης πληροφοριών και επικοινωνίας στην αρχαιολογία. Το Θερινό Σχολείο θα διεξαχθεί στην Αθήνα μεταξύ 12 και 17 Ιουνίου 2016.

Sunday, 12 June

19:00 – 21:30 Birds-of-a-feather dinner

A birds-of-a-feather informal discussion session combined with dinner, where participants to the summer school will be invited to introduce briefly themselves, to share ideas from their own experience and work, and to communicate their expectations from the summer school.

Module 1 – Training workshop: Digital approaches to archaeological knowledge curation

The training workshop is  the first module of the summer school, open to participants interested in the use of digital methods and approaches for the digital curation of archaeological knowledge, as it is manifested in pre-existing research data, resources and archives. It will be taught by an international faculty, including instructors from the Digital Curation Unit, as well as Greek, European and North American universities.

14:00 – 17:30 Individual projects: mapping and documenting legacy data and resources for deposition in an archaeological archive

Thursday, 16 June

9:00 – 12:00 Integrating scientific data and services with archaeological assets and knowledge

This session concludes the training workshop, which constitutes the first module of the 2016 summer school.

Module 2 – Expert forum: The future of archaeological knowledge curation 2021-2026 

The expert forum is the second module of the summer school. It builds on the lessons learned from the training workshop, and aims to develop digital curation thinking for medium-term planning for future digital archaeological research, information management and communication based on legacy data and resources, drawing from the expertise and digital project experience of participants.
