All those involved in Scientific Data Repositories are more and more faced with the problem of managing an increasing amount of complex Digital Data and, more importantly, are faced with the problem of preserving huge amounts of scientific digital data in order to make them available for validation of scientific results and for possible future applications. The seminar will present in detail a real case study, in order for the attendees to get an understanding of the main digital preservation issues and challenges when applied to the scientific Data Repositories, and an appreciation of the range of roles and responsibilities involved with digital preservation activities.
