A presentation on “Connecting archaeology and architecture data: updating the CARARE metadata schema” was made by our colleagues Dimitris Gavrilis and Christos Papatheodorou, along with Kate Fernie (2Culture Associates), at the CARARE Workshop “Archaeology and Architecture in Europeana” (University of Lund, Sweden, 20.06.2018).
Connecting datasets produced by organizations from several different countries presents significant interoperability challenges. In their presentation Fernie, Gavrilis and Papatheodorou described the approach taken in CARARE, the lessons learned in integrating more than two million metadata records from databases across Europe and the latest developments in the schema to support innovation in modeling the archaeological and architectural heritage and to enhance support for linked and contextual data.
